applicants before putting them forward to you. Often, it is not necessary to
interview more than one or two candidates as we do our best to only present
candidates who meet your requirements.
How long will it take to find a suitable candidate?
As soon as we receive your registration forms, a selection of suitable
applicants will be contacted and introduced to you, we may also decide to
advertise on your behalf to ensure that you are given the best opportunity to

All Childcarers who register with Village Maternity are expected to have
experience and many will hold qualifications. We also operate a scheme in

services of trainees who offer more affordable hire rates in return for work
experience, ask us for more details. In most cases, you will be looking for an
experienced Maternity Nurse or Baby Nanny and full checks will be carried out to
ensure that references and qualifications are up to standard. Candidates are
expected to be CRB checked, if not, a CRB check will be applied for and an offer
of a position will be made dependent on the candidate obtaining a clean CRB
check.
How do you screen Candidates?
We begin with a thorough interview. We then ask our candidates to answer a set
of questions designed to test ability and experience, aimed at providing us with
information on how the candidate would deal with certain situations, testing
their common sense reactions and enabling us to detect any red flags.
I've never had to pay taxes or national insurance contributions before, can you
help?
Yes, Village Maternity Care can refer you to our partner agencies who offer
payroll and nanny tax services which are designed to remove the headache of
managing the accounts related to the hiring of domestic staff. Don't be put off
hiring domestic staff based on your concerns around statutory contributions, if
you would prefer to process the contribution requirements yourself then we can
certainly provide you with links to the necessary government organisations who
will assist you on such matters making it all very quick and easy. Most Nannies
will work on a PAYE basis, you will be responsible for their tax and national
insurance contributions. Maternity Nurses on the other hand, usually work as
self-employed and as such, are responsible for their own contributions.
